Superhero

The other night I tied a Superman towel around Elijah's neck to act as a cape so he could play "superhero". After he ran into the other room I could hear him yelling as he was running in circles.
"I'm a superhero, I'm getting bad guys, My cape is falling off, My cape is falling off, My cape is falling off!"

Open Hands

Ezra has really started to open up his hands lately. In the beginning he always kept his hand balled up in a fist with his thumbs inside of his fingers. Now, in the past few days, it seems like he is starting to notice his hands, starting to look at them, and starting to open them up quite a bit. I gave him a rattle last night and he grabbed on to it and shook it around for a minute or so.

It wasn't me!

Elijah was having fun running around in circles in the living room this evening. He told us he was running from skeletons. He ran circle after circle yelling at the skeletons to stop chasing him. After a while he stepped on something and we all heard it go 'crack'. He picked a blanket up off of the floor and underneath it was a Tupperware bowl that was used to keep some of his lacing toys in. He brought it to me in the kitchen and it was cracked.
"The skeleton stepped on it!" he told me as serious as could be.

That's Fun!

I was putting Eli to bed tonight and after we read the 5 books he had picked out I told him I could not give him a kiss because Mommy was sick and I didn't want to get him sick too.
"But you can kiss my forehead" he tells me.
"Okay, I can do that." I tell him as I give him a kiss on the forehead.
"When we are sick it is fun to kiss on the forehead and when we are all better it is fun to kiss on the lips." he tells me.

I want my Mommy

Ezra was crying and I told him to wait a minute and I would be there in a second.
"Whaaa.....I want my Mommy, I want my Mommy!" Elijah says.
"Is that what Baby Ezra is saying?" I ask him.
"Yeah, he just wants his Mommy" he tells me.

Doggy Nap

When Elijah woke up from nap the other day he came running up to me so happy.
"Did you have a good nap?" I asked him.
"Marley slept with me!" he told me in the most excited voice. "He was right here and I waked up and he was in there sleeping with me, in my bedroom!"
He was SO EXCITED! This is the first time Marley has ever slept in his room (as far as I know anyways). And every since then Elijah has asked Marley each night to sleep with him again. So far it has not happened, but it seems Eli has not given up hope!

Masking Mommy

First Daddy was sick and now it's my turn. AGAIN. We just got over being sick last week and it seems we have something again. So far neither Elijah nor Ezra have caught it. We are trying our very best not to spread the germs to them and this means lots of hand sanitizing, lots of OJ and, yes, masks.
I have been wearing a mask while holding Ezra to feed him and he thinks it is just the funniest thing! I will pick him up and he just starts smiling so big he can't even concentrate on eating! He even seems to laugh about it. It is so cute! Hopefully the sickness wears off fast but in the meantime, at least I have the precious smiles to keep me on the up and up!

Foggy!

We have been reading a book about clouds to Elijah a lot lately. It explains about the different types of clouds and such. Also, we just bought a new humidifier for his room because this Colorado air is just so dry. Well this morning Elijah woke up after having his humidifier on for the first time all night and came up to his Daddy.
"There is alot of Fog in my bedroom!" he says as he takes his hand to show him.
Turns out, it was from the humidifier. It was too cute though!

Doctor

We took both boys to the Dr on Wednesday for their vaccinations. Elijah went first and did pretty good. There were a few tears but overall he did great. Then the nurse got ready to give Ezra his shots and Elijah got protective. Through his own tears he made sure to tell the nurse not to hurt his baby brother! What a great big brother! We had to explain to him that the shot was to help him not get sick. Then both boys got stickers. Eli thought it was pretty cool that Baby Ezra got his first sticker!
Elijah does not have to get another vaccination until he is ready for Kindergarten! We decided against the Chicken Pox Vaccine, but he got all the others. We had delayed starting them until he was 2 and now we are completely caught up. Ezra got his first set. We decided that with Eli bringing home germs from school and with the whooping cough that is going around that we would not delay Ezra's as we did with Eli's. Ezra had a fever that night after the shots and was cranky for 2 days, but seems okay now. His next set will be at 4 months. The Dr also told us that we can start solids at 4 months! That is crazy to think of!!
Elijah got a band-aid on his leg where the shot was and when it fell off that night, he told me it was all better now and didn't hurt anymore because the band-aid fell off! I wish they worked that well for me :)

What can Baby Ezra have?

When we first came home from the hospital with Baby Ezra, we decided we needed to give Elijah some rules. We told him that NOTHING goes in Baby Ezra's mouth except a Binky or Mommy's milk. Soon he was telling everyone...
"Baby Ezra can have a Binky and Milk and THAT'S IT!" as he threw his arms out like a umpire!

Pit-Bow

On Christmas morning, Marley was decorated with all the bows from all the presents. Scot tagged him a Pit-Bow!

Ho Ho Ho

No visitors

Daddy came home from work last night and Eli ran to the door.
"Eli!!!" Daddy says.
"Daddy, no one came to play with me today!"
I guess he was expecting visitors!

Bath Time!!

Ezra has always LOVED bath time. I don't think he has ever cried in the bath, ever!

Hungry Boy

Elijah tells me today...
"My legs are hungry."
"What do you mean, your legs are hungry?"
"They need some bananas so that they can grow big and strong!"

What's for Dinner?

So Elijah comes up and asks me what we are having for dinner.
"I think we will have the Pork Chops left over from last night and maybe green beans and..."
" How about Grapes??? Pork, Green Beans and Grapes!"
"Ummm....Okay, I think we can do that." I agree.
So this is the plate I brought him when dinner was ready.
"OH MY GOODNESS!!! IS THIS WHAT I AM EATING FOR DINNER?"
"Yep, I'snt that what you asked for?"
" This is the bestest dinner in the whole wide world!"

Big Brother Eli

When we were in the hospital right after Ezra's birth, Grandma Ellie and Grandma Cheryl brought Elijah in to meet Ezra. I was still in a hospital bed and I was holding Ezra. Elijah came up in my lap to meet him. A few seconds later a nurse came up to take Ezra's tempurature.
"NOOO......DON'T HURT HIM!!" Elijah screamed at the nurse.
He was really worried that the nurse was going to hurt his new baby brother! What a great big brother he was already!

Sprinkles

Elijah came up to me last night.
"Sprinkles are falling from the sky!"
"They are, are they? Are you catching them?"
"Yeah, look!!"
As he holds out his hand to show me, I see confetti that was left over from Christmas Morning!

Pirates, Bouncey Balls, Kerplunk and More!!

We went out to Grandma Ellie and Papa Chris's house for dinner. After dinner Elijah and George decided to play pirates!

Elijah said he was looking for Peter Pan.

After Pirates we played some board games. First it was Brown Bear, Panda Bear What do you see? Then we played Don't Break the Ice, and then.......

KerPlunk!
All the while Grandma and Papa were showing Baby Ezra his new Rocking Horse.
A little big, but he will grow into it! Oh yeah and I almost forgot. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse was on and Grandma had a bouncy ball just like Mickey's for Eli to bounce on while watching it!

Smiley Bucket

The past few weeks Mr. Ezra has been nothing but smiles! I love it! For a while there I thought he had colic like Elijah had for the first 3 months and I thought I was in for a few months of night time crying. But sometime right before Christmas he decided he was done with the nightly crying routine and that he would rather give us smiles, ALL THE TIME! I love it!!

2 month well check

Ezra had his 2 month well check yesterday. He is growing good. He is 10 lbs 8 oz and 22 inches tall. He was in the 15% for both height and weight. The Dr. said he might be on the shorter end. And I thought he was tall! He is so much longer than Elijah was at this age it seems. Eli was only 18 inches long at birth and Ezra was 20.5 inches at birth. But then again Eli was never on the charts either!
We had intended on getting Ezra's vaccinations too but the whole house (excluding Ezra) has been sick for the past week so we decided to wait another week. So far Ezra has not gotten the sickness that we have been passing around, hopefully it stays that way! The Dr. told me the best thing I can do is continue breast feeding him. It is the best immunity he can get!
Elijah did however get the sickness. I actually think he brought it home from Daycare. It was so sad the other day. Elijah had just taken his second nap of the day (this NEVER happens anymore so we knew he was not 100%) and he came out of his room and walked straight to Daddy. Scot picked him up.
"Daddy will you help me be happy?" He asked.
It was so sad!! Then a few minutes later he told us he just wanted to lay down. Now if you know Elijah you know that that just doesn't happen! I put a movie on for him and gave him some Children's Advil and a little while later he seemed to be feeling better. Now, a few days later, he is all better with the exception of a lingering runny nose.

Just Like Baby Ezra

Eli grabs a pair of my socks and puts them on his hands.
"Look it's baby gloves!" He says.
I am confused for a minute and then remember the baby mitts we put on Ezra so he will not scratch his face. And then I remember those mitts didn't work at all and for a few weeks we put socks on Ezra's hands. How clever!

He is not listening!

Elijah has a book to his ear this morning and is pretending to talk on the phone.
"Hello, is anybody there? Hello? Hello?" he says.
"Who are you talking to?" we ask him.
"Uncle Justin." He says.
"HELLO!! HELLO!! OKAY? HELLO!!" he screams. "He is not listening to me! UGGGGHHH... Uncle Justin is not listening to what I am saying!"
Then he hangs up!

Sleep, A Beautiful Thing

Ezra slept for 6 hours straight for the 2nd time last night! Mommy is so super excited about this! Especially since the rest of the house has been fighting off a cold, the rest was much appreciated. So far I don't think Ezra has caught it, thank goodness. I hope that 6 hours becomes a habit, just in time for Mommy to go back to work!

Elijah's hair

We asked Eli today if he wanted to get his hair cut or if he wanted to let it grow long.
"Would you like your hair short like Daddy's or do you want it to grow long like Mommy's?"
"I want it to grow long like Mommy's! I want it to grow as long as our house!"

Here's to Blogging

So here is another try at blogging all of those memories! This time I have double the amount of fun with my two E.A.R.'s, Elijah Aaron Romaine and Ezra Arthur Romaine. Hence the name "All EARs". I wanted to get this up and going before I have to go back to work. My Maternity Leave sadly ends February 1st. YIKES! I am not sure how I am going to accomplish all I do now, while staying home with the 2 boys, PLUS working 40 hours a week. I am sure we will get into a routine, but it is all a bit overwhelming to think about at the moment! So let's not dwell on that, and I will enjoy the time I have left at home!

Elijah and Company

I think it is time to retire Elijah and Company and move into the era of All Ears :). If you have followed my blog in the past you know that Elijah and Company was the blog that I started to capture all of the silly, cute, funny things Elijah did or said. All of the things "I should be writing down". And now that our family has grown I have decided that a new blog was in order. I do not want to lose all of the memories from Elijah and Company though so I have decided to condense them here. As you can see, I stopped blogging right about the time I got pregnant with Ezra. Well Ezra is 2 months old now and I am ready to get back at it.

So this is Elijah and Company:

Hard Working Friends

Eli looks up at me out of nowhere one day and says,
"Mommy, all my friends are at work."

The Land Before Time

Eli has been asking to watch the 'Dinosaurs' in the movie The Land Before Time, alot lately. So when we are in Target the other day he looks up at me and says
"My name is Peatry!"
Gotta love it!

Elijah Aaron Pizza

"What is your Last name Eli?" I ask.
"My last name is Pizza!" He tells me.

Baby Brother

We were in the waiting room waiting to be called back for the ultrasound to find out if we were having a baby boy or girl.
We ask Eli "Would you like a Baby Brother or Sister?"
"I want a BOY!"

Just Being Good

"How are you doing Mommy?" Elijah asks.
"I'm good, Baby. How are you?" I ask.
"I'm just being good!"

Woody

Eli woke up in the middle of the night one night to go potty. He came and woke me up and then started crying.
"What's wrong?" I asked him.
"I miss Woody" He sniffed.
"Would you like for Woody to sleep with you?"
"Yeah"
So I got his Woody doll for him to sleep with for the rest of the night and he went right back to sleep.

Buzz and Woody

One morning Scot went in to Eli's room while he was still sleeping. Eli started saying "Buzz and Woody, Buzz and Woody" while still sleeping. He must have been dreaming of Toy Story!

Hit the Road

Eli wanted to lay down on the couch one night. He gets over to the couch and sees that Marley is laying right were he wants to be.
"Hit the road, Marley!" He tells him.

I Like Flowers

Daddy and Eli walked up to see me at work. Eli gave me 2 flowers that he had picked on the way. They visited for a few minutes and then when it was time to go, Eli came up to me and said,
"I like flowers, Mommy."
"Did you want them back?" I asked him.
"Okay!" he says.
So I give him the flowers back.
"I take one" he says and hands the other one to me.
Then he proceeds to give me hugs and kisses and they are on their way.

I Love You Big Much

"I love you Big Much!" Elijah tells us as he stretches his arms out as far as he can!

Baby Brother or Sister

We have told Eli that there is a baby in Mommy's belly.
"It's a baby brother or sister" we tell him.
"NO brother, just sister. Sister, okay, let's do it!" he says one day.

A few days later I ask him if he would like to talk to the baby in Mommy's belly.
He gets right up to my belly button and says "Hello girl, hello sister!"

Chicka Chicka Boom Boom

When Aunt Lissa was watching Eli one evening Grandma Ellen called. She wanted to read Eli a story over the phone. As soon as she started reading, Elijah knew exactly what book it was and he ran to get his copy of Chicka Chicka Boom Boom. They read it together on the phone.

The next night Elijah was with me and Grandma Cheryl called. She asked to talk to Eli. "Do you want to talk to Grandma?" I asked him.
"Right back" he tells me while holding one finger up.
He comes back a few seconds later with Chicka Chicka Boom Boom.

Baby in my Belly

Elijah woke up this morning and the first thing he did was pull his shirt up and point to his belly while saying "Baby in my Belly".

Sunday, March 21, 2010

Shadow

I had a scrapbooking party to go to and I took Elijah for a few hours so he could play with the other kids there. Kendra, a 3 1/2 yr old girl there, asked if he wanted to watch a movie.
"Okay!" says Elijah.
She put on Peter Pan.
They both lay down on a blanket in front of the DVD player. Not long after Elijah stands up and starts running around the room.
He is screaming "Where are shadow? Where are shadow? Shadow!!!!"
Then Kendra starts chasing him and they are both running around the room looking for their shadows!

Let's Roll

I was getting Elijah ready to go to school one morning and after we were all ready to go he looks up at me and says:

"Come on Momma, let's roll"

Hokey Pokey

I was giving Eli a bath one morning and he stands up in the tub full of water.
"Sit Down, please." I tell him.
He looks up at me with a mischievous grin and starts singing "You do the Hokey Pokey" with all the motions and everything.
I couldn't help but let him finish the song!

Don't Worry Be Happy

We are just hanging out and all of the sudden Eli starts singing as he is playing with his blocks.
"Don't worry, Be happy, Don't Worry, Be Happy!"
Ahhh....to cute!

Staying Awake

Elijah was laying down on the couch in Grandma Cheryl's lap watching Shrek. We knew he was getting starting to get tired. A few minutes later I looked over and he was holding his top and bottom eyelids open with his fingers! He was trying so hard to stay awake but those eyes were not complying!

Uncle Justin

Uncle Justin is moving back to Texas and was coming over for a going away dinner. Earlier that day Daddy told Eli that Uncle Justin was coming over later. So when I got home from work a few hours later, Eli was running around the house looking for him!

"Uncle Justin, Uncle Justin, Uncle Justin, Where?" He was screaming as he ran back and forth through the house.

What can I say? The boy loves his Uncle Justin!

Just Hugs

As I pull Elijah out of the bath and wrap him in a towel, I give him a big hug and then set him down to brush his teeth.
"Let's brush your teeth." I tell him.
"No mom, just hugs."
So I pick him up and give him another big hug.
"Sweeeeeze," he says "I love hugs!"
"I love hugs too, babe!"

Talking so well

Eli comes up to me and says "Come play cars with me, mom." Just like that, full sentence and everything. When did he learn to talk so well? My baby boy is growing up!

Drumming on Drums

Scot and I were in the kitchen cooking dinner and Elijah was in his playroom playing. We could hear him playing on his drums. He was getting down and making lots of beautiful music. After a while he comes into the kitchen to join us.
"Were you playing your drums in there" I asked him.
"No" he tells us.
"Well then, who was? Who was playing the drums?" Scot asks him.
He holds his hands up with his fingers spread wide, "My hands!"

Bubbles

Eli went over to play at Grandma Cheryl's house for a few hours last weekend. When I came to pick him up, he was holding his Bubble Machine and asking to play with bubbles. Since Grandma was out of bubbles, this was not an option. He was not giving up! He wanted to take his Bubble Machine home too. Finally we explained to him that the Bubble Machine needed to stay at Grandma's house so that she could buy some bubbles and they could play with them the next time he was over.
"Okay" he said and he put the Bubble Machine away.
"Okay, now give grandma hugs and kisses bye-bye." I tell him.
He complies.
Then he said, "Hugs and kiss for bubbles?"
He wanted to hug the bubbles bye-bye too! What can I say, the boy loves his bubbles!

I don't want to hear it

Grandma Cheryl was over a few weeks ago and was trying to teach Eli about Easter and Peter Cotton Tail. As soon as she started singing, he stuck a finger in each ear and shook his head "no". It was so funny! "Am I really that tone deaf?" Grandma Cheryl asked.

Candy Store

While Aunt Linda and Uncle Rodney were here we went into the Ouray Candy Factory. As a very special treat we let Eli pick out a piece of candy. He chose a small piece of chocolate with rainbow sprinkles on it. As soon as we handed it to him he stuffed the whole piece into his mouth and soon there was chocolate all over his face! "I like it!" he said and then asked for more.

Some of my Favorites

Some of my favorites that Eli says:

His Red Beanbag is his "Greenbag"

Icicle are "Popsicle"

Hot Chocolate is "Almost Coffee"

Hold me is "I want to hold you"

"Is that you Mommy?" "Is that you Daddy?" When we come home

"I love you so much" "I so love you"

"Good Morning" Anytime of the Day!!

Sledding

Aunt Linda and Uncle Rodney came up for a visit from Texas last week and we had a blast! One day we all went up to Ouray to go sledding. It was Eli's first time sledding so I was not sure if he would like it or not. He was bundled up in too many layers to count! He had on his longjohns, pants and shirt, socks and snow boots, snow suit, winter hat and gloves and his winter coat over it all! He was a mini marshmallow! When we got to the sledding hill Eli was the first to jump in the sled. We had a green plastic one Grandma Cheryl had gotten him for Christmas that we tried out first. We also had borrowed a few other sleds from Grandpa Don.
With Elijah in front and Mommy behind, we wasted no time and went right down the hill. Eli started screaming "YEEEEE HAAAWWW, YEEEEE HAAAWWW !!!" The whole way down. It was too cute! As soon as we got to the bottom of the hill he looked up at me and said "Again!".
So we all took turns sledding down the hill with Eli and pulling him back up. I think he went down just about every time! He Loved it. One time, when we had made our way down to the bottom I was getting him in the sled ready to pull him back up the sled started sliding backwards, down the hill further with only Eli in it. I had a hold of the rope that was tired to the sled so I just let him go a little ways by himself in the sled while holding on to the rope and running with it. After a few feet, Eli rolled out of the sled! He rolled straight into the snow and down the hill a foot or so. Immediately he sat up and said "More!" What a little dare devil!
After an hour or so he told us he was "all done" and that was that. A wonder time, thanks Aunt Linda and Uncle Rodney!

Happy Tines Day!

Eli was so happy to make and pass out Valentines to his classmates at school. When we were making them he would say "Happy Tines Day". Then we decorated them with heart stickers which he kept calling "Apples". It was too much fun!

Goodnight Sweetie

The other day me and Eli were up in the morning getting ready for work and school. Daddy was still in bed, one of the few mornings he gets to sleep in. Eli goes to the bedroom door, peeks his head in and says "Daddy sleeping?". Scot lifts his head giving Eli the green light to come in. He jumps in bed with Daddy and snuggles with him for a few minutes. After he is done I hear Eli get out of bed, walk out of the room and close the bedroom door. Then he says "Goodnight Sweetie!"

Dentist Appointment

We took Elijah to the Dentist yesterday and he did great! He loved to ride up and down in the chair and clean his teeth with the electric tool brush! He also learned how to floss his teeth. One of his teeth has a "developmental weak spot" in the enamel so we have to go to another dentist for a check-up, but besides that everything looked great. Good job Eli!

Almost Tired

Elijah wasn't feeling very well yesterday and he wanted to be held. He reached his arms up for me to hold him. When I snatched him up he lay his head down on my shoulder and told me "I almost tired" as he let out a big yawn.

Favorite Color?

We went to Wal-Mart last night and I let Eli pick out a new lunch box. He is getting so good with his colors! I showed him a red, blue and green lunch box and without thinking twice he snatched the green one out of my hand and screamed "GREEN!". As Grandma Ellen would say "He's so smart :)"

Just Peanut Butter

I have been trying to explain the difference between Butter and Peanut Butter to Elijah. He wants to call them both Peanut Butter.
"No" I tell him "This one is just butter"
When we are in the supermarket, I pick up a tub of butter.
"It is Just Peanut Butter!" He tells me sternly.
I couldn't make this stuff up if I tried :)

Supermarket Nap

We were shopping in City Market last night and Eli was getting tired. He was in the large part of the grocery basket. I had some reusable grocery bags in the cart and I told him to lay down and use them for a pillow. He laid his head down and yelled "BE QUIET EVERYBODY!"

Thursday, February 4, 2010

Back Up Mommy

Elijah says "Mine Done"
I say "No Baby, You say 'I'm Done'"
"No, Mommy, Back up Mommy, Mine Done, Back up Mommy!"

Tuesday, February 2, 2010

Yummy Yoga

Tonight Elijah decided to jump in and work out with me as I sweated to Leslie Sansone's 5 Day Slim Down. He got those feet moving as Leslie asked for kicks and he chased me around the room during the power mile, but my favorite time was the cool down. There is a set of Yoga poses and he tried oh so hard to precisely do them as he said "alllmmmmost therrrre". When we were done, I said "Give me five for doing yoga with Mommy" and he went to Daddy and told him he did "yogurt with Mommy". Oh man, I love this boy!

"I'm So Tired"

I wake up in the morning and, as usual, when I turn the shower water on I hear the pitter patter of little footsteps coming towards the bathroom. A very tired little boy looks up at me and with half open eyes says "I tired".
"Why don't you go lay back down in bed Elijah" I tell him.
"No"
"Okay" I say knowing this is a lost cause.
"Back down" he says changing his mind, as he pulls open the bathroom door and walks into his bedroom.
I follow him with my eyes as he crawls into his bed and lays down. This is a first. I leave the bathroom door cracked in case he changes his mind, and get into the shower. As soon as my last foot touches the shower floor I hear the bathroom door slam shut. I peak out of the shower curtain, only to see my son holding his turtle. This is the turtle that lights up the moon and stars on his bedroom ceiling every night when he is put to bed.
I ask him "Did you need your turtle?"
"Yeah" He says with a huge smile on his face.
"Did you decide not to lay back down?"
"Shower" He says reaching for me as he sets his turtle down on the floor.
I scoop him up and start the day, tired or not.

All Better

I wake up at 2 am to Elijah crying. I get out of bed thinking that I really don't want to! When I get into his room Eli is stuck in between two of his giant stuffed animals, a huge rainbow colored giraffe and an overstuffed lion, on the floor crying. I pick him up and lay him back in his bed. He tells me "hurt" as he points to his throat and tells me to kiss it, so I do. He then says "all better" and lays down on his 'Buzz and Woody' pillow and goes right back to sleep. I know one day my kiss will not be enough to make it all better for him but for now, for today, that is enough, and that is perfect!

Let's Get Started

New to blogging, I have decided to try it out. I have so many thoughts go through my head on a daily basis and I think "I should be writing this down so I don't forget it one day". So today is the day! Let's get started! No more memories forgotten!
